This week we had an eye doctor appointment to see if you have a blocked tear duct (you do, but it's not bad). They dilated your eyes so the doctor could have a good look, and while you almost clocked her in the face in protest, you did recover quickly and then Mama watched amused as you began to weave and wobble like a drunken sailor. I was laughing with you. Really. The bad news is that the dilation lasts at least a day for blue eyed babies, so the rest of the day consisted of a lot of unsteady teetering and a lot of extra time on your tush.
Weeble...
Wobble...
Weeble...
Wobble....
If you sit backwards in the Little Red Plastic Car you can taste the handle and when your Mama drives and the car bounces your tushie will honk the horn on the steering wheel!
This weekend we celebrated a very rare Saturday night off for Mama and had ourselves a little cook out with Lilz and her Big Heads (no one else wanted to eat at 5:30 anyway). You forgot you were indifferent to meat and ate a burger with abandon, and you and Lilz both consumed an embarrassing amount of chips. If they say "organic" and "veggie" on the bag they must be healthy, right?
You and Lilz are both talking up a storm, although only one of you actually speaks English (hint: it is not you). It is very cute when she says your name, which in two year old speak comes out as "Chip," and which must be repeated 465 times during the visit. You guys also did a little shoving and posturing over the new bubble mower (which blew about six bubbles all night) and assorted food items. I have a feeling these scuffles are going to get worse before they get better.
The race for the $19 plastic lawnmower begins.
Iron grip on beloved toy intact.
Giving the side eye to anyone who looks like they might-maybe-possibly want a turn with the plastic lawnmower.
Ahhhh, yes. Time to eat some dirt.
We also started a new Gymboree class this week. Dada and I decided to both attend the first class, with Mama thinking she would have the camera out and ready to take precious photos of her frolicking child and his Dada at a leisurely pace while flitting in and out of activities. Mostly we both just chased you around while you whooped and hollered and pointedly abandoned all group activities within three minutes of their initiation. You did love climbing all over the apparatus and sliding and crawling through tunnels. And, of course, we cannot minimize the joy of finding a facility full of balls (read screeching toddler shouting, "Baaaaa!!! Baaaa!!!").
And poor little Jordan, the sweet, quiet boy who was bothering no one and just wanted to hold the slightly deflated blue rubber ball he had captured as it was cast off from some other kid. You sauntered over to him, yanked that ball out of his tightly gripped hands and then shoved that poor child on to the floor. Little Jordan burst into tears and Mama and Dada pointedly avoided the eyes of all the disappointed parents who probably wanted to remind us of the, "Keep your child within a hug's reach" rule posted on the wall. Don't they know that some people have children that really, really, really love partially deflated, blue rubber balls?
Here Dada, let me show you the children I am going to terrorize.
Wooohoooo!!!
Annnnddd....it's time to go.
Yesterday we also finally got ourselves over to the Golden Gate Park carousel. I can't believe we haven't been here before! In typical Trip fashion you showed no fear of the giant animals and you hopped right on and started bouncing up and down like you knew just what was going to happen. You made Dada move you to a couple different animals before settling on one, and Ohhh the rapture when the music started and the horsie started to rise and fall. I think Dada and I were both having one of those moments when we were in grateful awe of watching a little human being experience a really special rite of passage. Then we both admitted we were kind of dizzy and might barf.
Mama is so awesome she has a building named after her! If only you could read and be impressed with this information.
Good things are coming T, but not on the camel.
Mama, this looks like it's going to be fun.
Oh WOW! It goes up and down!!! Me likey! Me likey!
Dada, I am going to stay on this thing all day!
Getting you off of the carousel involved some tears and possibly a little kicking and screaming. It was hard to say goodbye to all of our new animal friends. We soothed the hurt by wandering around the nearby playground and checking out the bongo players who may or may not have been smoking something herbal to enhance their improvisation.
Dada needs to work on his pushing skills.
Mama knows how to do it!
Dada, let's go check out those bongo players. And maybe smoke a doobie.
This slide is pretty fun.
But this slide is more my style!
Meanwhile, back at the ranch....
I have a license. A license for destruction.
Why yes I do love me some chocolate pudding! Why do you ask?
Organizational skills of wine bottle alignment definitely inherited from Dada.
